Project aim (first attempt)

I had a mess around with wording and tried a few different aim statements and this is the only one that seems to be close to getting the message of what I want to do across.

This research aims to examine human reactions to visual elements in an attempt to produce more engaging and effective forms of advertising.

It's a very rough draft but it covers my main aims and process ideas.

Balloon dance advertising?

The sensuality and cheekiness of burlesque has always been something that interests me and as people often say, sex sells. This example, of course, is a bit much for street performance as it has to be fit for public consumption but I think the same sort of intrigue could be a good addition to methods of advertising.

The idea of having a person or multiple people covered in fliers (rather than balloons) so that people can remove the fliers themselves sounds really fun. Of course there are some issues like how to ensure the security of the person in question and what is the best way to attach the fliers to the person.

my initial suggestion to these would be a flesh coloured morph suit or something similar so that the flier covered person is still unexposed after the removal of the fliers but still gives the illusion of being exposed.

My Flowers

(blue peter moment) And here's some i made earlier...today. the lilies are more project relevant than the rose for 2 reasons.

1. The rose has a lot less predictable surface area for design
2. The lilies take about 6-10 minutes to make, the rose took roughly an hour and a half and it's still not right.

Origami

I decided to research some different styles of Origami. I haven't included some of the more complex items because it's just not realistic to assume I'd ever be able to create something that intricate in the time I have available as well as doing anything else. these, however, I could probably manage at a push (if I could enlist the help of an online tutorial or someone skilled in Origami to help me)

My main focuses in these are use of Colour and Form. This coincides with the research that is already planned as part of my project so I thought they'd be useful.

P.S. Is there a way to put the image after the text at all? If anybody knows how please tell me. I like to explain why pictures are there before rather than after.

First mind map

This is my initial mind map for how to approach my project. As there are a lot of different things I would like to try I thought it may be difficult to justify these things into one question but it seems it may be easier than expected :)

These are just the initial thoughts for each of these branches which I will probably expand on in later as individual mind maps of my own to clarify the direction of my research more directly.

I don't know why it looks like this, it's nothing to do with my project or ideas (except maybe the flowers) but it's colourful which is never really a bad thing I recon.

Original ideas

I've always been a little different, even from a young age. At times in the past this caused me a great deal of hastle and upset. However, as I've grown it's become a large part of who I am and who I enjoy being. Being different, unique and a bit obscure can cause a point of interest and my aim is to apply this theory in a way that could benefit as many people as possible.

My aim, at the moment, is to look at alternative forms of advertising. I have a few clear ideas of interesting ways to advertise but am struggling to tie these together into one question. I would like to research ways that have not, or have rarely been tried before me to find the most cost and time effective ways of advertising to the general public beyond what is already available.

The three main ideas I would like to approach in my project at the moment are:
        1. Looking into utilising paper forms rather than flat rectangles of paper as i find these (no pun intended) a little 2 dimensional.
        2. The possibility of how to distribute advertising in more effective and interesting ways.
        3. Using space and scale in a way that will draw attention to an object similar to the way a billboard or poster operates, but more adventurous.

I feel art should most definitely have more input in every day advertising and i hope to make that happen, even if it is only for a short period of time.
